We spoke to Leo Adam Biga, local freelance cultural journalist and non-fiction book author. His works have spanned many years and subjects. Many times he has traveled for his story, including when he accompanied a group of local students to President Obama's Inauguration, and when he went on the set of well-known writer, director, screenwriter, and Oscar winner, Alexander Payne. This experience resulted in two books: "Alexander Payne: His Journey In Film: A Reporter's Perspective 1998-2012" (Kindle Edition) and "Alexander Payne: His Journey in Film."
Mr. Biga has also written local stories about the FIrehouse Dinner Theatre, and other performing arts productions in Omaha, as well as an array of other subjects. He wrote the book "Open Wide: about a dentist, as well as "Crossing Bridges: A Priests Uplifting LIfe Among the Downtrodden." His articles appear in local publications, and magazines, such as The Reader as well as his website.
Mr. Biga has been recognized by his peers at the local, state and national levels, and we are honored to have him as a guest on the podcast! We hope he will return to share more about his work and current projects!

With the addition of the technological age, bullying has become even more apparent as a big problem that our kids and even adults face. We spoke with Dr. Patricia Newman, Founder and Executive Director of RESPECT. RESPECT is a not-for-profit organization formed of professional actor-educators, led by a child psychologist, advised by community organizations. Their Educators and Actors visit schools and communities – in person or virtually – to present educational plays and stage presentations to prevent violence, bullying, and child abuse.
RESPECT is a wonderful resource for people of all ages in our community! The Staff at Respect were even a helpful counsel to Sheri when faced with a bullying situation in 2019. Respect also offers opportunities to local actors to perform in the staged presentations at schools and other venues. Find out all about this meaningful program in our discussion with Dr. Newman!

We had the pleasure of speaking to Steve Krambeck, Director of "A Very Special Holiday Special", and Dan Wach, Executive Director of Shelterbelt Theatre. This production is a celebration of Christmas and Hanukkah, and where they meet, since they will both be celebrated on December 25th this year. Writer Mark Harvey Levine produced 8 short funny, yet poignant plays, full of humor and heart, and they will be performed by a talented cast of six. This will be a touching and festive evening about two very special holidays this time of year. Get your tickets now to enjoy this event!
Show Dates: December 5-8, 12-15 & 19-22, 2024.
Show Times: Thursday/Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 2pm, and Sunday at 6pm. Also be sure to check out their website about how to "Pay it Forward" or "Pay What You Can" for tickets.
